The Yeladim Meet Marine Lance Corporal Patterson
June 14th, 2011
On June 7, our three and four year old classes received a visit from Marine Lance Corporal John Owen Patterson, who was wounded in Afghanistan in January. Since John Owen returned to the States after his injury, he has received cards, cookies, letters and pictures from the yeladim. Also, a generous donation was made to the Wounded Warrior Project in John Owen’s honor from our Tzedakah donations. John Owen was welcomed with a poster, a United States flag to keep, a song and many questions. The children were fascinated with his new “leg” (“Is it like a robot?” “No, I think it’s more like Transformers!”) and seemed happy to meet the recipient of all of their get well wishes.
